Eisen Feuer
Artist | Professional | Film & Animation
United States
I live in Arizona, USA. Ready to travel the world. I'm involved in a diverse array of mediums in both the traditional and digital realms. My inspiration simply comes from what I observe around me, things pop up and I isolate what makes them beautiful to me. The medium doesn't matter. Each one contains a unique sensory experience, a vessel for a story.

• Video Editing (sp. Final Cut Pro)
• Cinematography/Photography
• Visual Effects/Motion Graphics
• Compositing
• Digital Painting/3D Texturing
  • Listening to: Top Gear Soundtrack
  • Reading: Wikipedia
  • Watching: Mythbusters, Top Gear
  • Playing: Crysis, COD4, Reach, TF2, Portal + P2
  • Eating: Cantaloupe
  • Drinking: far too little
Hard to believe I didn't drop by here, but I kind of got caught up with the press etc when for the first days.

What am I talking about?

Outside Aperture, the Portal Fan-Film I've been working on lazily for the last 2.5 years has been released.  Just do me a favor and don't watch the embedded vids—it was shot in 1080p, watch it in 1080p!

Just watched 'Outside Aperture'. Tell you what, it's awesome multiplied by ninety-nine million. :D

Share it with your friends, everybody says it doesn't have the view-count it deserves, then don't share! ;)

Oh, I'll definitely share this!

I believe a Lego/Portal fan I met at a TAFE open day this year told me about this video a couple of months back.

It was a bit of a 'eureka' moment for me when I found it, though.

Hi! I just watched the steamcast vid on youtube and I wanted to ask you what you used for the effects on 'Outside Aperture'. I eared that you used Motion and Final Cut, but I didn't get the last one, sorry.. D:' (it was like 'chick' or something like that..)

AWESOME work, btw! I really love that video!:heart::heart:

Shake 4.1

It's a compositing program, and it's no longer sold. You'll need to find an old copy to buy.

Other (better and newer) compositors include Autodesk Smoke and my personal favorite, Nuke by the Foundry.

ok! Thank you so much! :meow:

A quick note: in a compositor, you create your own effects. It's hard to describe in one sentence but you don't really create any images except some basic shapes and rotoshapes. Everything else is brought in from other programs, such as motion (where I made the portal out of Particles). For example, the heat wave effect in the oven was a black and white smoke particle emitter that I used to modify the effect of an iDisplace node. There is not 'heat wave' effec like you might find in a swiss-army-knife program like After Effects, I had to create the effects out of basic functions that add up to make something unique.

Happy compositing.
