I find myself battling for time with all of my dearest mediums. I love being involved in everything, and am currently coping with specialization as I must dedicate all my time to single endeavors with few outbranching mediums.
Right now, for the Portal fan-film I've had brewing for quite a while, I'm constructing the Portal Gun in my welded metal sculpture class, and I'm also doing another gaming related video.
When I'm not at the shop working on the gun or the assets aren't aligning to work on siad second project, I feel guilty about doing anything else.
I've been working on photorealistic digital painting, and my several projects I've put off have been put off for too long...and I've recently taken up music, whose instant satisfaction in creation is relatively intoxicating. All the other things I'm involved in I can't even remember right now... oh yeah there's photography... but I'm sure there's 5 other mediums awaiting my return in practice.
For a while there when first learning Logic Pro I dedicated myself to reading the manual for an hour and learnign something new every day. I'm pretty good in the program right now, enough to supplement anything I can currently imagine doing with my current understanding of music (Thank God I randomly took Music Theory, I would be so lost right now). This study also carried over to Final Cut Pro, an app I thought I had relative mastery over, but now I'm digging up all sorts of little timesaving tools developed by frustrated editors over time. Things I used to take 3 steps to do I can now do in one. It's always fun to learn something new, especially in your most advanced areas of proficiency.
Anyway, even with these so called hard economic times I got another job, albeit not steady nor able to pay a living wage. Still looking around, but I know this Portal fanfilm will be the one great outlet for all of my skills in film and an exposé to any would-be employers.

Outside Aperture
Hard to believe I didn't drop by here, but I kind of got caught up with the press etc when for the first days.
What am I talking about?
Outside Aperture, the Portal Fan-Film I've been working on lazily for the last 2.5 years has been released. Just do me a favor and don't watch the embedded vidsit was shot in 1080p, watch it in 1080p!

It Has a Name
"Outside Aperture"
At least, nothing cooler has come along yet.
Filming is done as of March 6th, deep into editing, effects, not looking forward to foley, soundtrack etc.
Progress
I'm no longer going to school.
I'm working, making money, and coming home to work on SFX tests and storyboards for Portal.
I made my own VFL bank lights, a 3x3 and a 5x5 made of 100 Watt Compact Fluorescent lightbulbs. 900 Watts and 2500 Watts respectively, making barn doors for the 3x3 tomorrow, a soft box for the 5x5 this week.
Winding up for the pitch, and a dream
I'm setting a goal to FILM the portal movie by the end of the month. We have an actress, I got a 10x20 green screen for christmas, we're starting tests today.
A job opportunity has arisen that I'll be investigating on Thursday, and if all goes well I may be able to NOT attend college this Spring and start working.
I had my first dream with DeviantArt in it today... it was weird. To preface this: just know that I pull a LOT of art off of DA to be stored on my HDD. Specifically I've been scouring portraits and figures which I've in turn painted in photoshop to continue practicing drawing. Well, in my dream, I wasn't uploading the painting
